Searching for Bobby Fight Club

Chessboxing. Yes, it's a thing. And yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Alternating 90-second rounds of chess with 90-second rounds of boxing, ending in either checkmate or a KO to win. But unlike chess or boxing, in chessboxing you are not allowed to "sweep the legs!"

Apparently there are leagues for this sport, and last Saturday, we joined The Tuxedo Tyrants in watching the national champion "rook" the sh** out of a guy half his size, and raised over $1,000 for The Tiziano Project in the process. Also got drunk. I'd like to see Deep Blue do that.

Unfortunately, no one could remember the cheer for the chess match from Saved by the Bell. I tried telling one of the fighters to use the cheat code from Mike Tyson's Punch Out: "A-B-A-B-Up-Down-Left-Right" but I was promptly corrected by another party guest, since that's actually the code code for Contra. Silly me.

Be sure to 'like' the Tyrants on Facebook so you can stay posted with upcoming events. Each event is at a different location announced once you purchase your ticket, and the party is followed by a pubcrawl around local bars. They always sell out, all for charity, and always classy.

If the next event is "Jeopardy!kickball" then I'm pretty much guaranteed a win.

Here are some pics from the party:
